Passive Solar Design Course
The effects of climate change and global warming are being responded to in ways that mitigate or adapt to them. Transportation is using electricity and alternative fuels. Companies quantify carbon emissions to identify means to minimize them, and products are consuming less and less energy.
For buildings and their design, it’s commonly considered that there is a trade-off between building comfort and impact on their environment. This course helps you understand how solar passive design in buildings helps solve that dilemma.
What You’ll Learn
- The evolution of built forms in response to climate
- Key principles of vernacular architecture
- Distinction between vernacular and modern architecture
- What makes vernacular architecture energy efficient
- Understand solar passive architecture and how it works
- Understand the advantages of solar passive design strategies
- Basis for designing energy efficient buildings
- Distinction of an energy efficient building
- How to achieve energy efficiency in buildings
- Identify energy efficient buildings
Solar Passive Design Description
This Solar Passive Design Course takes learners back in time to understand traditional design principles with pictorial examples from culture-rich Middle Eastern countries. The examples presented here may also have an equivalent in your region, and their application in modern architecture can be suited to countries with different climates, including, but not limited to, countries with a temperate climate.
This course aims to identify traditional designs that harness the surrounding environment (e.g., terrain, climate, available materials) to cool, heat, ventilate, and provide lighting to a building design but with little or no use of active systems.
CPD / CEU / PDH / CEP / CPC
Continuing Education (CE) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) refers to additional formal learning activities that are required to maintain a professional certification or accreditation.
CE or CPD comes in many names but represents the same thing. Here are some of them that may be used in your country:
- CPD – Continuing Professional Development
- CEU – Continuing Education Units
- PDH – Professional Development Hours
- CEP – Continuing Education Programs
- CPC – Continuing Professional Competency
Many of our courses provide Continuing Professional Development credits, points, hours, or units. To learn more about Continuing Education and Continuing Professional Development, please read here.
This Course Is Perfect For:
- Architecture Students
- Engineering Students
- Architecture Trainers and Educators
- Interior Designers
This course is best for people aspiring to specialize in the sustainable building sector. Professionals with training in designing buildings that operate with very low energy consumption and carbon footprint are in high demand because buildings are now required to be climate-responsive and because of the huge savings in operational costs.
If you want to design or build establishments that do not require too much power while maintaining a standard level of comfort and function like any well-built building, please enroll in this course.
Why Enroll in Solar Passive Design Training Course
The training course on Solar Passive Design is aimed at building the skill sets of building science professionals, specifically on sustainable building design. This online course is the next logical step to adding more value to formal education and provides professionals with knowledge of the current developments in the field.
The creator of this course is Dr. Roshni Udyavar Yehuda, an academician and practicing architect with a Ph.D. in Resource Management on structural configuration and thermal behavior of buildings. Dr. Yehuda, an empaneled expert on the Energy Conservation Building Code of India, has more than 20 years of academic and professional experience. She has traveled to more than 20 countries to lend her expertise in energy-efficient and environmental design of buildings.
This course contains tools and approaches that have been proven effective as they have been drawn from Dr. Yehuda’s extensive experience on the subject.
If you pass all the assessments in this course you will be eligible to purchase a Certificate of Competence in Solar Passive Design. The assessment has been prepared by an expert and is based on key areas which demonstrate competence.
This course is accredited by ESTA (Energy Services and Technology Association).
