Energy Efficient Building Envelope Design Professional Assessment

An Energy Efficient Building Envelope Design Professional (EEBEDP) demonstrates that he/she is capable of designing building envelopes that contribute to buildings being both comfortable and energy efficient.

EEBEDP Assessment Summary

• This “course” is where you submit the documents required to prove that you are capable of designing energy efficient building envelopes
• To get to this point you must have passed all the courses in the EEBEDP series
• Your identity will be verified as part of the assessment process.

EEBEDP Assessment Description

The assessment involves verifying your identity, reviewing a recorded or live presentation, and reviewing a design report.

The Certification Administrator will contact you and ask you to provide a range of information to verify your identity.

Once your identity is established you will need to:

• Provide a Recorded or Live Presentation: Applicants must provide a recorded presentation outlining their energy-efficient building design project, or present it live(virtually). This project, which could be a brand-new structure, a renovation, or a conceptual design, must illustrate how the concepts taught in the courses can be implemented.
• Submit a Design Reports: Applicants are required to send in a thorough design report, which is evaluated using a reference checklist. Building dimensions, climate data, project site information, and a comparison of the energy-efficient design with conventional buildings should all be included in the report.

Written feedback will be provided for the presentation and the submitted design report.

EEBDP Certification Eligibility

The Assessment is only available to those who have completed and passed the 6 pre-requisite courses:

• Solar Passive Design
• Climate and Buildings
• Building Physics Basics
• Thermal Comfort
• Daylighting
• Building Envelope Design

Once registered to the EEBEDP Assessment, you may reach out to support or to the instructor for a consultation(optional) for the design project proposal, plan a timeline of completion and schedule the recorded or live presentation.

Certification

Upon completing the certification requirements and passing the evaluation of the instructor, you will be certified as an Energy Efficient Building Envelope Design Professional. The evaluation will be based on the design presentation, the topic and coverage for which will be proposed to and approved by the instructor.
